The Braganza Colour is a third colour held by the 1st Battalion the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, given by Charles II’s wife, Catherine of Braganza, on the formation of the Regiment in 1661 to garrison Tangier, given to the British Crown as part of her dowry.

The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, holds the oldest battle honour ever awarded, that of Tangier 1662.

As the 1st Battalion of the Regiment (there are three Battalions) hold the Braganza Colour, the Braganza Cypher is sometimes used it items representing the Battalion. For instance, C Company of the 1st Battalion’s tie is green with the Braganza Cypher woven throughout.
